
PH PRIDE: Filipino chess master wins in Thailand

Robert Suelo Jr., a Filipino master in chess, won in the Rooky Monthly Blitz FIDE Rated last Sunday, March 2, 2025 in Lantana Resort Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.
Suelo successfully finished the 7 round Swiss System tournament with a near perfect 6.5 points in 5 minutes and 3 seconds increment time control format.
He defeated Ratchanon Apichonnabutr of Thailand in the first round, Moxuan Bai of China in the second round, Geoffrey Brown of England in the third round, Apichit Buakird of Thailand in the fourth round, FIDE Master Poompong Wiwatanadate of Thailand in the fifth round and Thoetsak Wongsawan of Thailand in the seventh and final round. He split the point with Louie Salvador of the Philippines in the sixth round.
