National Master Jose "Jojo" Aquino Jr. bested Eliza Cafirma in the masters Armageddon series held in Laoag, Ilocos Norte to advance in the Armageddon Battle of Champions (ABC) to be held on March 8, 2025 at Koten Gym Pasay City during the PTC World Engineering Day (PTC-WED). Cafirma had beaten Women National Master Acel Pascual, the reigning Queen of the North in the semis to face off with NM Aquino. On the non-master category, John Pascual needed to climb from the lower bracket and win twice against erstwhile unbeaten Clyde James Ganal to score an impressive 9-1 win-loss record in the tournament. Pascual lost to Johnny Suguitan in the 3rd round and returned the favor in round 8 to his lone tormentor.

Meanwhile in the In-season of the PTC-WED 3rd D’ Engineers Cup, IIEE Quezon got the back to back championship as they clobbered IIEE Saudi, 61-38, led by unbeaten Chester Neil Reyes and FM Christian Mark Daluz. Other contributors for Quezon were IM Michael Concio and the Reyes brothers Narquingel and Mark Gerald. IIEE Saudi was bannered by Fide Master Noel Dela Cruz and National Masters Keith Adriane Ilar and Nicomedes Alisangco.

The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE), the overall host of the PTC-WED, will spearhead the Golf tournament on March 15, 2025 at Veteran’s Memorial Golf Club and the flood management on March 1 at La Mesa Treatment Plant 2 Main Building, La Mesa Compound, Greater Lagro, Quezon City. The Golf course is utilizing a lot of water in maintaining the green field hence optimization of rain water could be part of mitigation on water scarcity aside from controlling flooding. “As climate change intensifies, flood risks continue to threaten our communities hence this seminar will bring together experts from the academe, national and local government, and private industry to discuss innovative solutions and strategies for sustainable flood control and disaster resilience” says Dr. Robert S. Licup of PICE.=Marlon Bernardino-
