
Kevin Arquero eyes another chess title in the 1st GMG Chess Club Tournament

Kevin Arquero, one of the top players of Philippine Army chess team eyes another chess title when he competes in the 1st GMG Chess Club (Non-Master Open) Tournament 2025 to be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at the Checkpoint Mall in Calamba City, Laguna.
The Pasay City resident Arquero is fresh from winning the Pozorrubio Town Fiesta Rapid Chess Tournament held at the 3rd floor Executive Building in Pozorrubio, Pangasinan last January 11, 2025.
"I hope to perform well in the 1st GMG Chess Club (Non-Master Open) Tournament 2025," said Arquero.
Also competing are Efren Arguelles, Gary Legaspi, Jersey Mariticio, Jerry Areque, Janmyl Dilan Tisado, Richie Jocson, Jeremy Marticio, Vladimir Gonzales and Ace Christian Alcira.
The champion here will earn P5,000 in this 1-day event, organized by National Master Coach Gerald Ferriol of GMG Chess Club.
The second to third placers will receive P3,000 and P2,000 respectively.
The fourth to seventh will receive P1,000 each.
Category winners will have a special prize of P1,000 each for the top Senior (50 year old and above), top Junior (20 year old and below), top Women, top girl (20 year old and below), top kiddies (12 year old and below) and top Laguna Representative.-Marlon Bernardino-
