
AGM Bernardino holds simultaneous chess exhibition in Santo Tomas, Pangasinan on February 10, 2025

Manila---Arena Grandmaster (AGM) Almario Marlon Bernardino Jr. will hold a simultaneous chess exhibition dubbed as Mayor Dickerson Dauz Villar chess festival in Santo Tomas, Pangasinan on February 10, 2025, in line its founding anniversary.
Bernardino was the 2005 Arlington, Virginia, USA champion and former top player of the Rizal Technological University - Mandaluyong City varsity team.
"It's an honor to be invited to this kind of rare simultaneous chess exhibition. Hopefully, I can share my knowledge with the residents of Santo Tomas, Pangasinan, especially the youth," said Bernardino, who hails from Binalonan, Pangasinan.
Students and residents of Santo Tomas, Pangasinan are eager to meet and even play against Bernardino, according to Mayor Dickerson Dauz Villar, an awardee of Asia's Golden Icon Awards being Asia's Exceptional Public Servant in Good Governance.
Santo Tomas is politically subdivided into 10 barangays. Each barangay consists of puroks and some have sitios.
La Luna, Poblacion East, Poblacion West, Salvacion, San Agustin, San Antonio, San Jose, San Marcos, Santo Domingo and Santo Niño.
Bernardino, a certified National Master and United States chess master is also set to play simultaneous chess exhibition matches at the 3rd floor Executive Building in Pozorrubio, Pangasinan on January 11, 2025 upon the invitation of Sportsman/Engineer Ernesto "Snooky" Salcedo III, who is also the Vice Mayor of Pozorrubio.
Bernardino is fresh from 7th overall finishing in the 16th Penang Heritage City International Chess Open 2024 Chess Championship held from December 23-27, 2024 at the UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College (Georgetown) in Penang, Malaysia.
Bernardino is the coach and delegation head of the PH chess team who won 2 golds and 1 bronze medal in the 32nd FIDE World Senior Chess Championship which was held at the Hotel Baleira, Porto Santo Island, Portugal from Nov. 16-29, 2024.
It shall be recalled that Bernardino achieved another remarkable victory by winning first place in the 3rd Laos International Chess Open 2024 held at the 2nd floor Parkson@ Naga Mall in Vientiane, Laos from September 1 to 6, 2024.
