FM Arca to lead The Red Pseudodragon Team in Asian Rapid Chess Team Championship 2024 in Hongkong

Manila---FIDE Master Christian Gian Karlo Arca will banner The Red Pseudodragon team in the Asian Rapid Chess Team Championship 2024 which will be held from August 22 to 28 at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

It will be recalled that Arca had made an unprecedented feat when he emerged as champion in the Open Blitz Competition of the World Youth Chess Championship in Montesilvano, Italy on November 12-25, 2023. In the past few months, he was also awarded as champion in the Grandmaster Norm Tournament in Vietnam last May 2024, Gold Medalist in both the Asian Youth Chess Championship 2024 in Kazakhstan on June 9-21, 2024 and in the Eastern Youth Chess Championship 2024 in Malaysia on July 12-21, 2024.in the same event of Blitz Chess Competition.

"I'm so grateful for this opportunity to be able to play in a different level tournament like the Asian Rapid Chess Team Championship 2024 in Hongkong," said the 15-year-old player from Panabo City Davao Del Norte, who is also fresh from winning the Hamungaya Chess Festival 2024 last August 17, 2024 in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.

A Grade 10 student of Panabo City National High School under the guidance of Coach AGM Ramil Langgamon and School Principal Mr. Manuel M. Esperanza is seeking to become the country's newest International Master.

Also competing in Hongkong from the The Red Pseudodragon team are WGM Miaoy Lu of China, IM Prin Laohawirapap of Thailand, IM Adelard Bai of Chinese-Taipei, Jamison Edrich Kao of Hongkong, CM Kaushik Ashwath, WIM Kylen Joy Mordido of the Philippines, Haoming Qu of China and FM Abilmansur Abdilkhair of Kazakhstan.-Marlon Bernardino-
