Third Straight Draw for Jan Emmanuel Garcia

Manila---Jan Emmanuel Garcia played his third draw in the ongoing 17th Thousand Island Cups Philippine Xiangqi Open at the Dasmarinas Corporate Center in Binondo, Manila on Saturday. Garcia, a certified International Master in chess drew with Wang Sing in the sixth round. In his previous game, Garcia drew with Willy Cu in the fourth and Ryan Ramirez in the fifth round. So far, Garcia has 3 wins and 3 draws in 6 outings. Action resumes on Sunday at the same venue with 3 rounds left.Garcia is looking for the Group B title plus the P500,000 or half million Philippine pesos bonus if Filipinos will win in this Xiangqi Open event,much known Chinese Chess according to Philippine Xiangqi Federation President Wilson Zhou.

Meanwhile, Noel Jay Estacio defeated Isaiah Gelua to raise his total 3.0 points, the same output of Angelo Abundo Young, Darwin Padrigone and Jennah Frias. Gelua remains at 2.5 points, the same score as Almario Marlon Bernardino Jr. , Klein Cantomayor and Reniel Bayola.The Top 3 Filipinos will receive P10,000, P5,000 and P3,000, respectively.Rodel Jose Juadinez Jr., Set and Sam Canasta tallied 2.0 points each. -Marlon Bernardino-
