Region 11 wins CEAP chessfest

THE Region 11 won both the boys and girls secondary chess team titles in the Catholic Education Association of the Philippines [CEAP] Mindanao Games held last June 18-22 at St. Paul University in Surigao City.

Region 11 took the gold in the boy’s division followed by Region 9. Third was Region 13.

Carl Jaspher Lloyd Fiel of R11 garnered the gold in the individual category.

Jacob Stuart Lim [R9] and James Verano [R13] settled for second and third, respectively.

R11 also topped the distaff side. R9 and R13 also placed second and third, respectively.

Nathalie Suter of San Pedro College ruled the women’s individual game, beating her own teammate Phoebe Kate Obenza of JMTS with a better quotient.

Suter and Obenza were earlier tied with 3.0 points. Obenza settled for second place.

Third was Janna Gapor of Region 9 while two others from R11 - Lienne Faith Salajudin of Ateneo de Davao University and Ma. Letecia Velasco of MHSAI finished 4th and 5th place respectively.
