AGM Galindo sweeps IIEE tilt in Dubai

Manila---Arena Grandmaster (AGM) and Engr. Joseph HajiYusuf Riano Villanueva Galindo swept all his assignments to score 7.0 points to rule the just concluded on-the-board IIEE UAE mini-chess tournament held Flamingo Dubai, United Arab Emirates last April 20, 2024.

Engr. Danilo "Danny" Reyes wound up second with 5.0 points. Engr. Danilo is the brother of PSME Foundation president Engr. Roger Reyes. At third place is IIEE National Past President Engr. Allan Anthony Alvarez with similar 5.0 points. Former World Open Under 2200 section champion Rocky Pabalan took solo fourth with 4.0 points. The first 2 games were played by former chapter president Ernie Vergosa.

Joint 5th with 3.0 points are Meinard Andres, sparring friend of NM Joey Florendo and Former chapter president Melchor de Roma.
The IIEE UAE chess team was also awarded with their plaque and medals for their championship in group B of the Philippine Technological Council’s World Engineering day chess online tournament held from January 26 to March 22, 2024.

Top scorer was Jorex JC Colmo and the following had scored at least 10 points for the 5 games are AGM Galindo, Marvin Marcos, Rolly Gangozo, Jerson Bitoon, Cheran Bartolata and Michael Linde.
Meanwhile in billiards, Norberto Lingcaso Jr. captured the crown with Joel Penaflor, Meinard Andres and former chapter President Jun Legayada placing 2nd to 4th, respectively. Next events are badminton on April 28 and basketball which will be held from May 12 to June 9, 2024. The IIEE UAE is led by its lady chapter president Melanie Rances.-Marlon Bernardino-
