The family of "Mano de Piedra" Durán through their social networks has reported that this past Monday the legendary Panamanian world champion had a pacemaker successfully inserted after being diagnosed with a complete atrioventricular (AV) block.

Durán, 72, was diagnosed with "Complete Atrioventricular Block", which caused the search to place the device in his heart.

Since last Friday it was known that Durán had been hospitalized at the Santo Tomas Hospital due to health complications while the family at that time asked that they keep him in their prayers.

Duran remained stable and thousands of fans around the world along with the president of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaiman and world champions such as Julio Cesar Chavez, Canelo Alvarez and Mike Tyson among many, began to send expressions of solidarity and wishes for a speedy recovery.

Duran is considered the country's greatest sports hero and the most important man in the world in the history of Panama.

Duran is already at home beginning his recovery and meeting his new life partner.
