Mexico’s Green and Gold National Amateur Mega Tournament

With the Otomí Ceremonial Center as center stage, WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán, Victoria Montero, director of the general of physical culture and sports, and Juan Jose Herrera, president of the Commission of the State of Mexico, officially inaugurated the “Green and Gold” Amateur Tournament where more than 450 boxers are participating.

The tournament, which will last for three days, happens in three different rings, that will work simultaneously. There will be eliminators until the final that is scheduled on Sunday.

The opening ceremony was full of surprises with the attendance of delegations from the participating states Sonora, Baja California Sur, Baja California Norte, Aguascalientes, Chiapas, Puebla, CDMX, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Nuevo León , Jalisco, Guanajuato, Tamaulipas, Oaxaca, Quinta Roo, Veracruz, Zacatecas, State of Mexico.

For WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán, this is a historic event for amateur boxing, but especially for the hundreds of young people and children who gathered, because it signifies a beginning of their dream.

Mauricio thanked all the organizers, especially Mr. Monroy González, who highlighted that he has put his heart and soul into making the tournament a success.

He also thanked the efforts of all, who have done all their work to make the tournament a great event, from which the future world champions will emerge.
