MANILA---It will be Pasig City King Pirates versus Toledo-Xignex Trojans for the championship of the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) online chess tournament held Wednesday evening at Chess.com Platform.

Pasig brought down San Juan Predators, 11-10, and 14.5-6.5, in two sets, while Toledo (Cebu) eliminated Iloilo Kisela Knights, 10.5-10.5, 13.5-7.5, and 2-1 in Armageddon, to arrange a titular showdown with Pasig on Saturday.

The Pasig City King Pirates actually drew first blood by edging the San Juan Predators, 4-3, in blitz and 7-all stand off in the rapid play in the first of the two title Northern Division match.
GM Mark Paragua beat IM Jan Emmanuel Garcia, IM Eric Labog Jr. toppled Narquingel Reyes, and Jerome Villanueva downed FM Narquinden Reyes for the Coach Franco Camillo-mentored Pasigueños'three victories in blitz and a draw by WNM Rowelyn Acedo against WIM Jan Jodilyn Fronda and IM Cris Ramayrat against IM Ricardo de Guzman.

NM Karl Victor Ochoa humbled GM Gombosuren Munkhgal and IM Paulo Bersamina clobbered Kevin Arquero for San Juan.

The second set came close after a 3.5-3.5 all stand off in the blitz portion. However, Pasig demolished San Juan in the rapid play, 11-3.

Munkhgal defeated Garcia, WFM Sherily Cua nipped Fronda, Ramayrat dealt GM Victor Moskalenko, Labog outclassed Bersamina, Arquero subdued Narquingel Reyes and draw by Villanueva against FM Narquinden Reyes. Ochoa trounced Paragua for San Juan full point.

At the end, Pasig advanced to the finals.

"It was a tough match," said Pasig City King Pirates Coach Franco Camillo.

"We are happy to have a nice game against the San Juan Predators," added Coach Camillo.
