Former long time supefly world champion Jerwin Ancajas of the Philippines returned to action in the super bantamweight division with a methodical dismantling of trial horse Wilner Soto of Argentina at The Armory in Minneapolis. MA Saturday night (Sunday in Manila) in a 8-round scheduled bout broadcast live on YoutTube's Showtime channel.

Ancajas (34-3-2, 23KOs) smothered Soto (22-13-0, 12KOs) with body shots and combinations to the head never allowing the Argentinian into the fight. A flurry downed Soto in the 4th round and in the 5th round Ancajas finished him off with a series of body shots as the referee stopped the contest when Soto dropped to his knee for the second knockdown.

It was a solid showing by Ancajas who was fighting for the first time as a 122-pounder after ruling the 115 lb division since he won the title in 2016 and losing it to Fernando Martinez of Argentina in February 2022. He also lost to Martinez in a rematch in October that year.

Incidentally Martinez defends his title against undefeated Filipino Jade Bornea in the evening's co-feature, coming up. In the main event Carlos Adames faces Julian Williams.
