MOHEGAN SUN, CT (May 25, 2023) – Team Combat League (TCL) returns tonight, live from the Mohegan Sun Expo Center in Connecticut, with another action-packed night of brawling.
The first match of the night will feature a clash between the two hottest teams in the league, the Atlanta Attack (4-1) coached by Mustafa Meekins and Sam Arnold, and Barry Hunter’s DC Destroyers (2-2). Both teams have exhibited an aggressive style in embracing TCL’s one round at a time nonstop action format.
The bout will feature an epic confrontation between two breakout stars, Khalid Johnson (6-1 with one knockout and one knockdown in TCL) vs DC’s Quincey Williams (undefeated 6-0 in TCL action).
In another closely watched matchup, Deric Davis will face off against Michael Dawson in a rematch of a December 2022 boxing match in which Davis edged Dawson by decision. This is TCL, however, and Dawson has excelled in the one round format (6-1 TCL).
Atlanta vs DC will also feature the long-awaited debut of amateur sensation Nasheed (Sugar Sheed) Smith who is expected to face off against two fighters with very different styles, Nehemiah Jones and Frankie Solomon of Atlanta. DC’s Hasim Rahman Jr. will also be in action as he takes on Demetrius Demeritte of Atlanta.
In the nightcap of the doubleheader, in an important match with playoff implications, The LA TenGoose (1-4) led by Ricky Funez will take on Dewey Cooper’s Las Vegas Hustle (2-3). Key questions will be answered. Will Sam Arnold Jr. (7-0 TCL) continue his unbeaten streak when he faces off against seasoned pro Ronald Ellis?
How will newcomer Rey Vega fear against LA’s dynamic duo at middleweight, Vlad Panin and Alejandro Silva? The match will also feature the TCL debut of the Perez brothers, Jerry at middleweight and Jose at lightweight for LA TenGoose. The Perez brothers join the Davidson brothers of Atlanta as the second pair of sibling teammates in the league.
