
Jofre donates his brain to Traumatic Encephalopathy studies

Eder Jofre.
The legendary former Brazilian world champion and member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, Éder Jofre left instructions to his family to donate his brain for studies on chronic traumatic encephalopathy, known as boxing dementia.
Jofre, died at the age of 85 in early October and had lived with the disease since 2010.
Family members respected Éder's own wishes and during a press conference on Thursday, neurologist Renato Anghinah, who followed Jofre's treatment, confirmed Jofre's wishes to make the donation.
Jofre's son's confirmed that his father considered himself an organ donor and that, if it would help, he would donate all of them.
Jofre's brain will be taken to the medical laboratory of the University of Sao Paulo.
