Barclays Center, Brookly, New York -- Frank Sanchez (21-0, 14KOs) stopped a game Carlos Negron (25-4, 20KOs) in the 9th rround of a scheduled 10 round fight.
Negron was the taller and heavier fighter who used his physical advantage and good boxing skills to keep Sanchez at bay. However, Sanchez was patient and never stopped advancing and was finally able to score an impressive knockdown of Negron in the 9th round. Negron beat the count and was determined not to quit and began exchanging punches with Sanchez. In the end, Sanchez got the better of the exchanges. Negron bleeding from his nose and the knockdown that almost saw Negron thrown out of the ropes may have been why the referee had seen enough and halted the bout awarding Sanchez a TKO victory. The time was 1:36 of the 9th round.
