
RUSSELL SCORES CONTROVERSIAL 6TH ROUND TKO VICTORY OVER BARTHELEMY

Barclays Center, New York -- Gary Antaunne Russell scores a controversial stoppage over Rances Barthelemy in the 6th round!
In a super lightweight bout hot prospect and rising contender Gary Antuanne Russel 16-0, 16KOs took on two division and former world champion vs Rances Barthelemy 29-2-1,15KOs.
Round 1
1st round saw Russell press and attack Rances. Rances countered Russel well and connected even hurting Russell. Both fighters scored but Rances was more effective. 10-9 Rances.
Round 2
More of the same action in round 2. Russell seem to have respected Rances counter punching ability and was more careful. Russell looking for a big punch to land but didn't find it. Rances boxed well. 10-9 Rances.
Round 3
Russel comes out very aggressive trying to overcome Rances jab to close the gap. Close round. 10-9 Russell
Round 4
Russel swinging for the fences. Russell is doing everything he can to make this a street fight, but Rances keeps the jabs in Russel's face. Both men score well but round goes to Rances who scores two good right hands to end the round. Rances 10-9.
Round 5
More brawling action by Russell. Rances is determined not to let Russell bully him. He engages with Russel, but goes back to the jab, counter punches, and scores well. 10-9 Rances.
Round 6
More of the same action from round 5. Suddenly, Rances gets caught with a right hand and knocks Rances down. Rances beats the count, follows the referee's commands and appears ready to resume combat. For some apparent reason the referee waves the fight off. Rances is in shock! Rances protests and his corner protests. The crowd at Barclays expressed their dispproval with boos . The boos lasted even throughout the post fight interview. Rances corner complained about the referee. They asked for a rematch with a different referee. The crowd showed their approval with roaring cheers for Rances corner request for a rematch with a different referee. The time of the stoppage was :50 of the 6th round.
