IM Quizon to banner WFM Lomibao-Beltran Open Rapid Chess Cup

MANILA---International Master Daniel Maravilla Quizon will spearhead a strong cast clashing in the Woman Fide Master Sheerie Joy Lomibao-Beltran Open Rapid Chess Championship set July 10, Sunday at the second floor Open Kitchen Foodhall, Rockwell Business Center, Sheridan Street, Mandaluyong City.

The Opening program starts at 8 am followed by Round 1.

The 17-year-old Quizon, whose local and international tournament is supported by rep. Elpidio Barzaga Jr. and mayor Jenny Barzaga, looms as the player to beat in the 9-round Swiss system tournament owing to his current magnificent performance.
Quizon kept his crown as Philippine rapid chess king as he completed a three-peat feat in the strong third Kamatyas FIDE rated rapid tournament held at the SM Sucat in Paranaque City last Saturday, June 25, 2022.

He is also the winner of the 2nd edition Kamatyas Chess Infinitum Invitational Rapid Tournament last June 19, 2022.

Also seeing action in the 1 day event backed up by former Olympian Woman Fide Master Sheerie Joy Lomibao-Beltran in close cooperation with Ms. China Aurelio and Ms. Mimi Casas of Open Kitchen are Grandmaster Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr., Grandmaster Darwin Laylo, International Master Jan Emmanuel Garcia, International Master Michael Concio Jr., International Master Angelo Young, International Master Ricardo de Guzman, International Master Chito Garma, International Master Barlo Nadera, International Master Cris Ramayrat and Woman International Master Kylene Joy Mordido.

Also set to fight for their place in the worth P110,000 prizes rapid chess tournament are Fide Master David Elorta, Fide Master Sander Severino, Fide Master Roel Abelgas, Fide Master Jose Efren Bagamasbad, Fide Master Christopher Castellano, Fide Master Adrian Ros Pacis and Woman Fide Master Allaney Jia Doroy.-Marlon Bernardino-
