Imperial, Carreon win in GM Balinas chess challenge

MANILA---Candidate Master Genghis Imperial and Arena Fide Master Melizah Ruth Carreon defeated their respective rivals in the Grandmaster Rosendo Carreon Balinas Jr. chess challenge dubbed as Bayanihan Chess Club Match Up Series, Chess For A Cause on Friday, May 20, 2022 virtually held at lichess platform.

Imperial, one of the top players of PCAP's Manila Indios Bravos breezed past Israel Landicho of PCAP's Cavite Spartans, 9-5, while Carreon, former member of PCAP's Cavite Spartans crushed Noel Jay Estacio of PCAP's Quezon City Simba's Tribe, 9-3.

The race-to-9, draws not counted online blitz event, organized by Bayanihan Chess Club headed by it's co founding chairman Dr. Jose "Joe" Balinas and Engr. Antonio "Tony" Balinas was aired via live streaming at Bayanihan Chess Club official page and Chess Lovers PH thru chess blogger Richard Cornell Manzano.

Atty. Rudy Rivera, legal counsel of Bayanihan Chess Club congratulated Genghis (Imperial) and Melizah Ruth (Carreon) for their strong showing.
