Wilfredo Gomez Update

Wilfredo Gómez, was taken by paramedics out of his residence in Puerto Rico.

Police and Health authorities in Puerto Rico managed to enter the house of three-time world champion Wilfredo "Bazooka" Gómez in the area of ​​Venus Garden in Cupey last Wednesday afternoon due to allegations that the woman with whom he shares a relationship with deprived him of his liberty and was in a deplorable condition.

In a live broadcast on Telemundo, Gomez, 65, was seen in a wheelchair and then getting on a stretcher into an ambulance, in addition to the presence of his wife Carolina Gamboa, his son Wilfredo Gomez Jr and the support of former world champion Víctor "Luvi” Calleja>

For many months there was no word of Gomez nor access to know about him and then the family contacted the Court of San Juan making a request to be transferred to a hospital due to what was known of his deplorable conditions.

Gomez did not look well and sported a long beard. It is known that Gómez's neighbors were the ones who insisted and made public the inhumane conditions in which he was kept in his residence.

It should be noted that Gomez's wife, Carolina Gamboa, traveled from Orlando, Florida to come to the aid of the legendary former world champion and member of the Canastota International Boxing Hall of Fame.

Gomez has been voluntarily committed to a psychiatric facility for treatment.

Mauricio Sulaiman, WBC president has stated that he is trying to contact Gomez's family to support his speedy recovery.

Next March 13 in the Court of San Juan it could be anticipated in which hands the custody of Gomez will remain.
