Argentina’s former middleweight king Sergio “Maravilla” Martínez displayed class and stamina dropping and dominating younger Briton Macaulay McGowan for a non-title 10-round unanimous decision win Thursday night in Madrid, España, live in Latin America on ESPN.

The relentless “Maravilla” overwhelmed McGowan (14-3-1, 3 KO’s), rocking him hard to the canvas in chapters 7 and 10; but the strong 27-year-old Englishman each time bravely got up from the canvas, fighting thru the final bell.

At the end, wide numbers of 98-90 and twice 99-89 were scored for the popular “Maravilla” Martínez, a former 2-division champion who is back in furious action mode wanting a shot at 160-pound world title.

Born in the land of Messi and Maradona, the former winner of the prestigious “BWAA Fighter of the Year” battles for the chance of trading bombs against any of the reigning middleweight champs, Charlo, Lara, Andrade, Murata or Triple G.

Does Sergio Martínez (55-3-2, 30 KO’s) deserve a title shot?

At 46, can he still outclass any of those 160-pound champs?

Felicitaciones por el triunfo, Maravilla!
