DAVAO CITY – Orient and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) flyweight champion Jayr “The Dreamer” Raquinel of Cauayan, Negros Occidental wants to fight no. 1 contender Genisis “Cobra” Libranza of Davao City.

“The mandatory defense is already overdue,” said Raquinel’s manager Brico Santig of the Highland Promotions.

Santig, who has been in Dubai for two months already due to the pandemic, plans to make it mandatory on Oct. 30 in Manila.

“We are just waiting for IATF approval in Manila,” said Santig.

Raquinel (12W-1L-1D, 9KOs) needs a fight because he has been over training for more than three months already.

He has long been waiting for an opponent. Raquinel has been training under Coach Allan Alegria at the Highland Manila gym.
He last defended it against Takuya Kogawa of Japan via a TKO in the 8th round on Aug. 23, 2019 at the Korakuen Hall in Japan.
Raquinel has renewed his license and medical already with the Games and Amusement Board for 2021.

There are seven Filipinos who are contenders for the OPBF flyweight crown.

After Libranza, next is Bienvenido “Sniper Ben Fairtex” Ligas (no. 4) followed by Jayson “Smasher” Mama (no. 5), Jaysever “Lion Hearted” Abceder (no. 6), Giemel “Pistolero” Magramo (no. 7), Michael “Captain Barbel” Mendoza (no. 14) and Miel “Silent Assassin” Fajardo (no. 15).

Libranza (20W-1L-0D,12KOs) recently knocked out John Mark Apolinario in the 1st round last Feb. 27, 2021 at Bula Gym in Gen. Santos City.
