Through a press release, the World Boxing Council (WBC) announced that it will be rescheduling for a 2nd time the purse bidding for its mandatory fight between Mexican superstar Canelo Álvarez and little-known Turkish bóxer Avni Yildirim for the vacant WBC super middleweight world title.

This bidding - which will be made online and public – was originally scheduled for September 21st, later rescheduled for October 6, now postponed to October 21st.

However, the prospect of a battle between Canelo and Yildirim is not that popular among boxing fans as seen on social media discussions and online boxing forums.

In addition, British sports streaming giant DAZN has already expressed minimal interest in it.

That is because boxing fans would rather see the tough Canelo against an opponent of higher fighting level and name recognition such as unbeaten Britton titlist Billy Joe Sanders, WBA world champion 🇬🇧 Callum Smith (27-0, 19 KO’s), or Kazakhstan’s world champion power-puncher slugger “Triple G” Gennady Golovkin.

Lets find out what will unfold during the October 21’s Canelo-Yildirim purse bidding. Keep you posted. ✋🏼
