Mandaue City -- Undefeated minimumweight prospect and current WBO Asia-Pacific minimumweight champion Milan Melindo keeps his perfect record with a unanimous decision win over Indonesian visitor Sofyan Ependi Friday night at the Mandaue City Sports & Cultural Center.

Melindo (15-0-0, 4KOs) gave his opponent a neat boxing lesson by outboxing, outsmarting and beating Ependi (7-5-1, 6KOs) to the punch in the majority of the rounds in the 10-round contest but Melindo, who is not known for his punching power, could not quite finish his game opponent. The judges' scores were 97-93, 98-92 and 96-94, all for Melindo.

In the main support bout, Weng Haya improved his record to 9-wins, 1-defeat with 5 knockouts by outpointing veteran Pedro Malco (14-16-2). Haya got the nod of the three judges with the scores of 96-94, 96-94 and 97-93.

Melindo (L) caught Ependi with a left cross in this bit of action from last night's fight in Mandaue City, Cebu.

Weng Haya (R) went up against veteran Pedro Malco.

Jether Oliva (R) ducks from a Roel Honor right.

Jason Pagara (R) steps up his attack over William Jorge.

In other results, minifly prospect Jether Oliva (8-0-0, 7KOs) of General Santos City came back from a knockdown to score a unanimous decision win over Roel Honor. Jason Pagara stopped William Jorge in the third round in a light-welter battle. Ray Las Pinas won over Renan Branzuela while in a battle of debuting boxers, Eman Labanza outpointed American Steven Garrett. The fights of Jerson Mancio vs Ed Earl Orellano and Alde de Zosa vs Allan Jay Tunacao both ended in draws.

Meanwhile, Sherwin Paro's comeback bid ended in a sour note when he was stopped in the first round by Nelson Llanos.
