Faedonia wins Online Blitz Tournament

Manila---PH chess wizard Jasper Concepcion Faeldonia wins the 1st Bonna Babes Sam Online Blitz Tournament on Wednesday, July 1,2020 at the lichess.org.

The incoming grade 10 student of Arellano University under the watchful eye of coach National Master (NM) Rudy Ibanez won his last 6 games to rule the said event, being held coincide the 50th birthday celebration of Vilma Delos Santos, a DepED Teacher from LaMesa Elementary School in Calamba City, Laguna and wife of online chess organizer/ SMDC Sales Director Samivin V. de Los Santos.

The 15-year-old Faeldonia, the 2018 Singapore Age Group Under 14 Co-Champion, collected eight points on eight wins and one loss to win the nine-round tournament.

Faeldonia, who hails from Odiongan, Romblon and one of the top players of famous Espana Chess Club headed by engineer Ernie Fetisan Faeldonia is fresh from a runner-up place finish in the Chesskids PH Online High School Division tournament.

Khalid Ontawar took the second spot with a higher tie break points to fellow 7 pointers that includes third placer Glicerio Pardillo Jr. and fourth placer National Master (NM) Julius Sinangote.

National Master (NM) Gerardo "Gerry" Cabellon came fifth followed by sixth placer Mark Russel Salera, seventh placer Arena Grandmaster (AGM) and eight placer National Master (NM)/ engineer Robert Arellano with 6.5 points each.

Rounding up to the top 10 winners were engineer Joel Hicap (9th) and Oriental Press Bahrain Internal Audit Manager Kriz "Dodoy" Villareal (10th), both tallied 6 points apiece.-Marlon Bernardino-
