Langcay rules Sokor chess championship

Manila---Filipino Waldimar Langcay ruled via tiebreak the Philippine E-9 international chess tournament (over the board) at the JB Bank Suwon Foreigner Banking Center in South Korea on Saturday, June 28, 2020.

Langcay, tied for first-second places with countryman Jun Jun Jabay 4.5 points apiece in the event organized by Philippine E-9 chess club, the only Filipino Chess Club in South Korea. With the highest tiebreak points, Langcay took the title while Jabay finished second.

Rounding up the top 10 were Khishigtur Batsaikhan of Mongolia (3rd), Jonathan De Dios of the Philipines (4th), Otgunhuu of Mongolia (5th), Ruel Gomez of the Philippines (6th), Sungmin Kyun of Sokor (7th), Johnvic Yu (8th), Joel "Recca" Carcueva (9th) and Rogen Luna of the Philippines (10th).

Fide International Arbiter Junil Choi of South Korea is the chief arbiter in the said chessfest and assisted by Norwin Altez Marasigan of the Philippines.-Marlon Bernardino-
