DeMarco (R) connects at Santillan.

Rising welterweight Giovanni Santillan edged veteran Antonio DeMarco with a majority decision win Tuesday night (Wednesday in Manila) at the Bubble at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas in the co-feature fight on Top Rank's Boxing in Back event broadcast live on ESPN headlined by Joshua Greer vs Filipino Mike Plania.

Judges scores: Dave Moretti 95-95, Steve Weisfeld 96-94 and Tim Cheatham 96-94 in favor of the San Diego born Santillan.

Although Santillan appeared to have connected more, it was DeMarco who inflicted heavier damage as he bloodied Santillan's nose in the 4th round and in the 8th round. DeMarco also repeatedly connected his right to Santillan's body all night.

Santillan, 28, now improves his record to 26 wins with 15 stoppages while the 34-year-old DeMarco drops to 33-9-1, 24KOs.
