NEW YORK – Bradley Beal had 30 points on 11-for-23 shooting and 3 assists to help the Washington Wizards post a 114-96 victory over the slumping New York Knicks on Wednesday at the Madison Square Garden.
As the third quarter ended in favor of the Wizards at 77-73, Beal and Co. wasted no time dominating the final quarter and went on a 37-23 tear to seal the outcome.
The Wizards have won five of their last seven games and improved to 20-33. Now three games behind Orlando Magic for the last playoff slot in the Eastern Conference, the team will be playing with extra confidence and motivation after the All-Star weekend -- with Bradley leading the charge.
"We're in a good spot," Beal said during the post-game locker room interview. "We can make a lot of noise coming out of the break."
Three more DC players finished in double figures with Davis Bertans chipping in 16 points, Isaac Bonga adding 13 and Troy Brown Jr had 11 markers.
Wizards rookie Rui Hachimura, who has a burgeoning fan following especially among those with Asian heritage since his selection as the 9th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, scored 8 points and collared 5 rebounds after contributing 20 markers in their previous game against Chicago.
Julius Randle led the Knicks with 21 points and 13 rebounds. New York continues its downward spiral with a 17-38 record.
The Knicks had a measly 40.9 percent (36-for-88) on field goals while the Wizards had a better 47.6 percent on 40-for-84 conversion.
The Knicks host Vic Oladipo and the Indiana Pacers on Friday next week, Feb. 21.
