Mendoza TKO's Bau to win the WBF International flyweight title

DAVAO CITY -- Southpaw Michael "Captain Barbel" Mendoza of Camarines Sur scored a 1st round TKO over Stevanus Nana Bau of Indonesia to win the World Boxing Foundation International flyweight title last Jan. 18 at Pili Capitol Convention Center in Pili, Camarines Sur.

It was the 11th victory against the lone defeat and two draws by Mendoza.

Mendoza had three wins in 2019 including the unanimous decision over Vincent Bautista of Bohol to win the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation flyweight title last March 22 at San Fernando City.

Meanwhile, Al "Catain A" Sabaupan of Camarines TKO'd Ray Rahardjo of Indonesia in the third round of a lightweight 8-rounder.

The promoter is Juan Monis of Hardstone Boxing Promotion.
