DAVAO CITY --- Former WBA Super World bantamweight champion Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire of Bohol was appointed as the mandatory contender by the World Boxing Council of WBC bantamweight champion Nordine Oubaali of France.

The free negotiations period has begun for the mandatory title defense and if no agreement is reached, a purse offer will be conducted on Jan. 3 in Mexico City.

The 37-year old Donaire (40W-6L-0D, 26KO) has recently lost by a unanimous decision to International Boxing Federation World bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue of Japan last Nov. 7 in Saitama, Japan.

Donaire, who is residing in Las Vegas, Nevada earlier scored a knockout in the 6th round against Stephon Young of USA last April 27 in Lafayette, Louisiana for the WBC Diamond bantamweight title and WBA Super world bantamweight title.
Oubaali, on the other hand is still undefeated with 17 wins and 12 knockouts.

He defended for the second time against Takuma Inoue of Japan by a unanimous decision last Nov. 7 in Saitama.
