Thunder Steal Victory From Warriors, 100-97

San Francisco, CA— Chris Paul extracted a bit of revenge against the Golden State Warriors when he hit a 19-foot jumper with 36 seconds left in the game to put the Oklahoma City Thunder ahead and securing their first road win of the year, 100-97.
With only eight healthy players available, the Warriors led most of the game but could not close the game out as the Thunder rallied by scoring the final 13 points and snapped their three game losing streak. Warriors Steve Kerr on the last moments of the game, “We couldn’t handle their defensive pressure. They turned it up and forced some turnovers and we didn’t get good looks. It was frustrating because we had the game right in our grasp and just couldn’t finish it off. More than anything I just feel sick for our guys because they continue to compete, work and they deserve better, but on the other hand, we weren’t good enough to close the game out, so we didn’t deserve to win.”
Dennis Schroder scored 22 points off the bench, including 4-8 from three point range. Paul, who struggled from the field early on, ended with 20 points. Steven Adams logged in a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Paul, who played the Warriors in the playoffs on three occasions during his career, was heavily boo’d throughout the game by Warriors fans. However, that did not faze Paul who said, “I’m used to it. They should boo me here. I don’t expect them to cheer for me.”
The Warriors shot only 41.6% as a team but Glenn Robinson III scored 25 points and Ky Bowman continues to impress his coaches by adding 24 points. The Warriors are just 1-7 playing at their brand new home arena in San Francisco.
The Thunder are now 6-10 with three of those victories against the Warriors. They will meet for a final time on March 28 at Chase Center. Golden State next hosts the Chicago Bulls at Chase Center on Wednesday, November 27 while Oklahoma City travels to Portland to face the Trail Blazers on Wednesday, November 27.
