Warriors fall to the Jazz, 122-108

San Francisco, CA—D’Angelo Russell’s 33 points were not enough as the Utah Jazz defeated the Golden State Warriors 122-108 on Monday night at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
The defensive woes continued for the Warriors as six Jazz players scored in double figures and shot 46% (16 for 35) from three-point range as a team. Donovan Mitchell scored 23 points and Mike Conley added 22 points for Jazz who up their record to 7-3. Rudy Gobert led the team with 25 points, 14 rebounds, and two blocks. The Jazz shot 49% over from the field and won their third straight game.
18 of Russell’s game high 33 points occurred in the first quarter, Russell also led the team in assists with eight. Rookie Jordan Poole had 11 points and Alec Burke added 10 points as the Warriors lose their fourth straight game, matching the team’s longest losing streak since the 2014-15 season. The depleted Warriors are now just 1-5 at home and 2-9 overall. The last time the Warriors began a season with a record of 2-9 was 1999.
Draymond Green’s return to the lineup after missing the last five games with an injured finger was cut short after he was ejected in the fourth quarter (double technical). Stephen Curry was attendance for the game as he continues to rehab his surgically repaired broken left hand. During a press conference, Curry informed the media that he expects to be available to play sometime early Spring 2020. Golden State travels to Los Angeles to face the Lakers on Wednesday night.
