Detroit -- As injuries continue to deplete their roster, the Detroit Pistons got a little bit of good news today when the team announced that power forward Blake Griffin has been cleared "to participate in all basketball-related activities," the team announced on Thursday afternoon (Friday morning in the Philippines).
After averaging 25.5 points and 7.5 rebounds last season, the 30-year old Griffin hasn't played this season. The 6-foot-9, 250-pound power forward, who is navigating a five-year $173 million contract he signed as a Los Angeles Clipper in July 2017, is suffering from a "left hamstring and posterior knee soreness."
Despite the absence of Griffin, the Pistons have managed to hang to eighth place in the Eastern Conference, thanks largely to the efforts of Andre Drummond.
But they are running out of bodies.
Derrick Rose and Tim Frazier and both njured while Reggie Jackson is out for a few more weeks with a back injury.
Girrfin's return couldn't have come at a better time.
