JERWIN ANCAJAS A BIG HIT AT THE LARRY ITLIONG DAY (PHOTOS)

CARSON, CA -- IBF Junior Bantamweight World Champion, Jerwin Ancajas of the Joven Jimeneza’s Survival Boxing was introduced to the Filipino community that came to celebrate Larry Iliong’s Day at the Veterans Park at Carson California.

Ancajas appeared at the huge Filipino annual affair that commemorates the exploits of Larry Itliong, the West Coast initiator of a farm labor movement that exploded and became the United Farm Labors Union eventually was made famous by Cesar Chavez. Chavez is a Mexican American farm labor movement hero.



The presence of Ancajas at the event was made possible by the Otamias/delaVega tandem in cooperation with Steve Fader and the spin makers at Top Rank Promotions.

Against a backdrop provided by Top Rank Promotions, Ancajas signed photos to give away to the fans as well as posing with them together with two lovely Top Rank Girls, Filipino American Cielo Jean Gibson, and Erika Thom.

To help entice the Filipino crowd to attend the fight of Ancajas on Saturday, November 2nd at the Dignity Health Sports Center versus Mexican American challenger, Jonathan Javier Rodriguez, the Otamias/delaVega tandem arranged a “ticket discount” for those that will attend the fight. Top Rank agreed to provide a whooping 20% discount for the Filipino fans.



The Ancajas fight will be shown live on ESPN. It will also be seen live on ESPN Deportes for the Latin American fans. The fight serves as the co-feature of the Miguel Berchelt’s WBC super featherweight title defense against Jason Sosa.

The curtain raiser starts at 3:30 PM PST and the Ancajas –Rodriguez fight should be on about 7 pm defending on the results of the other undercard fights.
