Results of Amateur Boxing in Maasin, Southern Leyte

MAASIN, Southern Leyte -- Amateur boxing had its exciting evening of action last Tuesday evening at Maasin's Sports Complex, a highly competitive event featuring the region's future stars.

In the best fight of the card, young amateur warrior John Dominic Ledres of Ninz Gym in Hilongos, Southern Leyte (featured in the above photo), outclassed with superior speed and elegant skills Cebuano combatant Eduard Serrano during their three-round clash in the 47 kilos division. All judges score for Ledres, the winner by unanimous decision. (top photo)

With the world to learn, the highly effective John Dominic Ledres is a raw diamond with future in our sport. Because natural talent John Dominic has. It all comes down to his discipline, heart and commitment that he will put in boxing.

In another interesting war, Romie Evale of Maasin City scored a unanimous decision win over Jeamar Pepito of Cebu. The war was in the 56 kilos weight class.

Also, Cebuano super bantamweight Virgel Serrano edged local kid Richard Bacalad for a split decision victory.

Moreover, Michael Anduyan won a split decision over Josriel Bonghanoy of Cebu. Their hot rumble was in the 46 kilos division.

Fifty eight kilos coming-forward warrior Abel Yarte of the Ninz Gym in nearby Hilongos won another split decision over iron man John Ledres of Hindang, Leyte.

In 43 kilos, John Patrick Cubena of Maasin City won a unanimous decision over tough Victor Rafael of the beautiful coastal town of Tomas Oppus in Southern Leyte.

Plus, Jhayve Donaire of Maasin stopped strong warrior Jissie Pelaes of Tomas Oppus. They fight was in the 53 kilos.

In addition, tough and strong Ruben Evale of Maasin stopped big heart Ruben Aunoor Mann of Ormoc City, Leyte, via RSC. Their battle was in the 45 kilos weight-class.

The show was part of the activities commemorating the 19th Anniversary of the City of Maasin, as well as the city's fiesta.

In attendance during the evening of boxing action were the Mayor of Maasin City Hon. Nacional Mercado, the Vice Mayor and Philboxing.com contributor Hon. Maloney Samaco together with his wife, as well as the very active Maasin City Councillor Hon Zaldy Olita.
