Pacquiao-Thurman PPV undercard: Nery KOs Payano

LAS VEGAS - Luis Nery knocked out Juan Carlos Payano in the first offering of the Pay-Per-View portion of Manny Pacquiao vs. Keith Thurman Jr.
Nery, who remained undefeated at 30-0 and 24 KOs, dropped Payano with a left to the body in the 9th round and Payano fell to the canvas in pain.
Payano never recovered from the only knockdown of the fight and was counted out by Referee Vic Drakulich. He was helped out to his corner after his loss and was still visibly in agony afterwards.
This is Nery?s eleventh straight KO and his second straight American PPV outing. He retains his World Boxing Council Silver Bantamweight strap with this victory.
Time of stoppage was at the 1:43 mark of round 9.
