Team Nouri's Ticketing Service top Dalawahan chess tournament in Jasmeen Foodville

THE Team Nouri's Ticketing Service stole the limelight by winning the Dalawahan Rapid chess tournament 2000 and below that was held recently at the Jasmeen Foodville in Caloocan City.

With Fide Master Alekhine Nouri and Paul John Lauron at the helm, the Team Nouri's Ticketing Service won the title with 11 game points output in the event organized by Novelty Chess Club of Caloocan.

Actually, Team Quantum Zero spearheaded by John Michael Silvederio and Michael Renz Canonoy also tallied similar 11 games points marker but finished second place with a lower tie break points.

In the seventh and final round, Team Nouri's Ticketing service defeated Team Turreda, 1.5-0.5, to went home with the top prize of P8,000 plus an elegant trophy.

FM Alekhine halved the point with Jhulo Goloran in their top board encounter while Paul John Lauron defeated Randy Turreda in their lower board skirmish.

FM Alekhine, the top player of the multi-titled GM Jayson Gonzales Far Eastern University chess team, adjudged individual Board 1 gold medallist with undefeated score of six points on account of five wins and two draws in seven outings.

Team Quantum Zero, meantime beat Team Ron Matehek, 2-0, with John Michael toppled Recarte Tiauson in Board 1 while Canonoy outclassed Don Hamilton Arias in Board 2.

Team Pugo Licious bannered by Reggie Mel Santiago and Mark Louie Velasco crushed Team Yabut Realty of Stephen Manzanero and Mark Anthony Yabut, 2-0.

Team Pugo Licious finished third over-all with 10.5 games points and pocketed P2,000.

Team Jack en Poy (Joven Balsalubre and Jennie Sanglitan) and Team Mamamuh (Noel Geronimo and Von Steven Aquino) settled for fourth to fifth placers with 10 games points marker and received P1,000 each for their efforts.

Tournament Director is Mr. Juancho Caunte, Chief Arbiter is FNA Noel Morales assisted by NCA Tony Laureano in the twenty minutes plus three seconds delay time control format which attracted 46 teams in the National Chess Federation of the Philippines sanctioned tournament.(Marlon Bernardino)
