Former amateur standout Jade Bornea will fight his 10th professional bout against John Rey Lauza on Sunday, November 5 at the Robinson?s Mall Atrium, General Santos City. It will be the co-feature of Jayson Mama vs. Rodel Tejares 10-round flyweight main event. Bornea (9-0-0, 6 KOs) became a professional boxer last October 11, 2014. He won his professional debut against Alberto Muring by 2nd-round TKO at the Davao City Recreation Center at the flyweight division.

The IBF Youth super flyweight title fight was held last February 26, 2017 and Bornea won by a 10-round unanimous decision against the 22-year-old hard-hitting Raul Yu of ALA Boxing Promotions in an undercard of SanMan promotion's Laban Pinoy 3: Rise of Champions at the Lagao Gym, General Santos City. Bornea was born in Arakan, Cotabato del Norte, but grew up in General Santos, and is rated No. 13 superflyweight boxer in the whole Philippines by BoxRec.

In his latest fight, Bornea won over his first foreign opponent Samuthra Sitharan of Thailand by TKO in the 4th round last September 9 in Polomolok Gym, Polomolok, Cotabato del Sur to defend his IBF youth super flyweight title. In April 2, 2016 Bornea knocked Ronnie Sunido out in the first round to win the vacant Mindanao Professional Boxing Federation (MinProBA) super flyweight title. He also handed Salatiel Amit his first loss on July 11, 2015 by unanimous decision.

John Rey Lauza (13-15-4, 6 KOs) is from Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur. He has already fought four times this year. In August 30, he lost by 4th round KO to Froilan Saludar. In May 28, Giemel Magramo stopped Lauza in the 4th round. Last March 14, he had a majority draw with Vincent Bautista. Last January 27, he failed in his bid for the PABA flyweight title against Thai Sirichai Thaiyen in Phitsanulok, Thailand by a 12-round unanimous decision.

Jayson Mama (7-0-0, 3 KOs) of General Santos City will clash with journeyman Rodel Tejares (21-44-7, 6 KOs) of Kadingilan, Bukidnon in a 10-round flyweight main event. While Mama has not lost as a pro, Tejares has only won one bout against Ian Ligutan by 3rd-round stoppage and lost three matches this year. Last year, Tejares has lost five out of six bouts and drew one with Jocel Gamalo. Surely, the Tejares bout is just a tune-up fight for the unbeaten Mama.

Oscar De La Hoya announces that the winner between Billy Joe Saunders and David Lemieux for the WBO middleweight title, will be in the gunning for a fight with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Both Lemieux and Canelo are promoted by Golden Boy. But, De La Hoya explains that Gennady Golovkin is the frontrunner to fight the Mexican boxing star. Canelo wants to fight on May 5 with GGG on top of the list. "But so much depends on the negotiations," De La Hoya said.

If Lemieux wins against Saunders, a match with Canelo will be captivating because Lemieux is undefeated since his loss to Golovkin in 2015, winning by a big knockout of Curtis Stevens last March. Lemieux is also a Golden Boy fighter, so a Canelo match is easier to negotiate than the Golovkin remake. But Canelo-GGG rematch will be a bigger money-maker and their September fight was the second highest PPV sales this year topped only by the Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor match.
