Jeff Horn?s promoter Dean Lonergan thinks Manny Pacquiao is not a bit scared of Horn, contrary to the opinion of Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk. He accepts the Filipino boxer?s predicament and hopes the much anticipated rematch could be realized. Pacquiao had initially agreed to make the rematch with Horn again at Suncorp Stadium on November 12, but lately was quoted by media that he wants the fight to held in Manila.

?I don?t think for one second Manny Pacquiao is running scared of Jeff Horn, he has been in the ring with the greatest boxers of our generation, he?s not going to be inducted into the boxing Hall of Fame for ducking fights,? Lonergan explained. Then the Philippine government's trip to China surprisingly came up as a justification not to do an immediate rematch with Horn, making many critics skeptical of Pacquiao's real motives.

?I just don?t think the timing suited him so we will look at other options. Manny Pacquiao has decided that he will not be competing in a rematch with Jeff Horn in 2017. On behalf of the Philippines government he will be part of a delegation that will visit China in the middle of his proposed preparation period for the fight. Pacquiao is committed to fighting again in 2018, and a rematch with Jeff Horn for the WBO world welterweight title,? Duco Events promoter Lonergan added.

Former six-division world champion Tommy Hearns expects a classic encounter between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs) and Gennay Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) on September 16th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. "This is a fight that people will talk about for a long time, people have been waiting a long time for something like this and I have too. I can not wait any longer," said Hearns.

The fight with GGG will be Canelo's first encounter as a full middleweight at the limit of 160-pounds. Majority of Canelo's fights occured at 155-pounds and less. Last May, he fought and battered Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. at 164.5 pounds.

Last March, Golovkin clashed with Daniel Jacobs for twelve rounds, the first time it happened in the Kazakh's career winning a close unanimous decision at New York's Madison Square Garden after stopping 23 opponents successively.

"GGG is a strong fighter, he can fight with anyone, but he does not get away from taking some punches. If Canelo does what he has to do, if he boxes, stays away from danger... if he does that when he releases his punches, he has a good chance of winning," the Hall of Famer Hearns said.

Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has some comments regarding his MMA rival Conor McGregor after his fight against Floyd Mayweather. ?Conor doesn?t have good cardio, and (they) knew he?s not used to boxing,? Aldo was quoted by MMA Junkie. ?Mayweather was closed up, just waiting for the time to pounce. The guy hadn?t fought for two years."

Aldo, who lost to McGregor via a 13-second knockout back in 2015, disagreed with what some fans said that it was a moral victory for the UFC supestar having lasted ten rounds and was able to have some success in the fight especially in the first three to four rounds. "A moral victory would have been taking on an active boxer, a champion, and then fought him. And then you?d see how he would barely last a round. Because it?s an entirely different sport. We need to put ourselves in our places," added Aldo.

WBC superflyweight world champion Sridaket Sor Rungvisai, (42-4-1, 38 KO?s), of Thailand and former WBC super flyweight champion Roman ?Chocolatito? Gonzalez (46-1-0, 38 KO?s), both weighed in within the required WBC 7-day weight limit in preparation for their highly anticipated rematch on Saturday, September 9 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Rungvisai weighed in at 119lbs. from his training camp in Thailand while Gonzalez who is in Japan weighed in at 119.8lbs. Both fighters were required to weigh-in at 121lbs. or under per the World Boxing Council rules.

Former welterweight champion Antonio Margarito (41-8-0, 27 KO's) is targeting a trilogy with Miguel Cotto (41-5, 33 KOs) in December. Margarito won a seven round technical decision over Carson Jones (40-12-3, 30 KO's) in a bout scheduled for ten rounds. The referee stopped the fight when Margarito's right eye was cut and bleeding from an accidental head butt in the second round. The scores were 67-65, 68-64 and 67-65.

Cotto won the vacant WBO junior middleweight title with a twelve round decision over Yoshihiro Kamegai. In 2008, Cotto and Margarito fought for the WBA welterweight title in Las Vegas, and Margarito stopped Cotto in the eleventh round for his first career defeat.

During their rematch in 2011, Cotto won his revenge with a ninth round TKO upon the findings of the ringside doctor that Margarito's right eye was badly swollen. Margarito went into semi-retirement for four years and made his return in 2016 winning his bouts over Jorge Paez Jr. and Canelo's older brother Ramon Alvarez.
