Lord Mayor Graham Quirk commented that Manny Pacquiao ?seems to be all over the shop? after the Brisbane chief executive announced a week ago that the Filipino fighting senator has agreed to boxing in Brisbane for a rematch with Jeff Horn. ?I was given a very firm commitment that he was coming, but it seems a week is a long time in the world of boxing,? Quirk said.

?Manny himself seems to be all over the shop ... at the end of the day, you need a boxer committed to come here," the Mayor added. ?I will say this, Jeff Horn should not be expected to wait around forever for Manny Pacquiao. There are other opponents out there he could be taking on in Las Vegas or other parts of the world.?

Suncorp Stadium has already been booked for a November 12 rematch but everything went into confusion when the Department of Tourism announced that Pacquiao through his MP Promotions wans the return bout to be held at the Philippine Arena here in the Philippines. This prompted Bob Arum and his Australian partners to look for other alternative opponents in case Pacquiao finally decides on not pursuing the revenge encounter Down Under this year.

Arum believed that the former world welterweight champion will focus on his duties in the Senate for the remainder of the year before seeking revenge against Horn early next year in a grudge fight. ?A lot of it is his senatorial duties and he is not a youngster any more. That was a very physical fight and he may feel he needs more time to get ready for a rematch."

The promoters were considering Conor McGregor but his asking price would be too high. Besides Arum and UFC boss Dana White are not in good terms. ?There are a number of opponents but they are all names. We would talk to the manager Glenn Rushton," declared Arum. "I will clear everything with my partner Dean Lonergan, and we will come up with somebody that is very, very good. It won?t be Manny Pacquiao probably but it will be somebody very good.?

The No. 2 WBO contender is Argentinian Lucas Martin Matthysse, who has 38 wins in his 43 fights. The 34-year-old fighter nicknamed ?The Machine? has an excellent record of 35 KO's. England?s Bradley Skeete (27-1-0) is the No 3 contender and is not a knockout artist, with a stoppage of less than half of his opponents. Arum however noted that none of Horn?s likely opponents could approximate the box-office power of Pacquiao.

Disgruntled fans who purchased pay-per-view rights to watch the Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight sued the fighters, their training teams and promoters for not being given a satisfactory fight which they expected from the two former pound-for-pound kings. Their complaint was that Pacquiao?s shoulder injury was hidden, which resulted to a boring fight, and some buyers want their money to be refunded.

The U.S. District Court for the Central District of California denied the claims of the PPV purchasers and gave its favorable decision to both Mayweather and Pacquiao. The ruling was made despite the knowledge that Pacquiao and his team knew about his serious shoulder injury and yet they announced that Pacquiao was conditioned ?100% spiritually, mentally and physically.?

?Nearly all sports fans?at least those who have been fans for longer than a few lucky years?have tasted both the sweetness of victory and the bitterness of defeat,? said the Court?s decision in dismissing the case. ?The binary nature of competitive sports means that after any given event, at least some fans are sure to be disappointed. Unfortunately, sometimes this disappointment results in lawsuits," the decision further stated. "Courts in the United States, however, have long been hesitant to recognize a sports fan?s post-event disappointment as a legally cognizable injury.?

?Talking doesn?t win fights,? Mayweather tweeted, a social media blow at the loud trash-talking McGregor a day before the boxer vs. UFC star cross-match at the MGM grand, Las Vegas, Nevada. ?But running does,? Pacquiao tweeted in. ?God bless on your fight tonight!? Anyway Pacquiao deleted the message. But it was a clear gesture that Mayweather?s defensive style of avoiding punches and staying away from scuffles still annoyed Pacquiao during their May 2015 ?Fight of the Century" which Mayweather won by unanimous decisio

Dana White informally announced the final pay-per-view sales for the Mayweather-McGregor fight and the figures were amazing. ?Six point five million pay-per-view buys,? White says to the surprise of the listeners as reported by boxingscene.com. At a PPV price of $99.95, the fight generated $650M in pay-per-view sales if White's pronouncements were true. And it would break the previous record of 4.6M PPV buys during the Mayweather-Pacquiao encounter.

Mayweather previously confirmed that his fight with McGregor had already broken the record for gate receipts in boxing, surpassing the Pacquiao showdown once again despite the many vacant seats in the T-Mobile Arena. ?We did break the record tonight for the biggest gate. Me and Pacquiao done $72M, I think we?d done something over $80M for the live gate,? Mayweather declared.
