Thammanoon Niyomtrong aka 'Knockout CP Freshmart' of Thailand knocked down Filipino challenger Rey Loreto in the 10th round en route to a unanimous decision victory to successfully defend his WBA world minimumweight title Saturday afternoon in Chonburi, Thailand. Scores: Ferlin Marsh, 117-110; Ignacio Robles, 115-113; and Takeshi Shimakawa 117-110 all favor for the undefeated Thai.

Loreto (23-14-0, 15KOs) , who came down in weight to challenge Niyomtrong (16-0-0, 7KOs), was the busier fighter early throwing good combinations as Niyomtrong was content to throw measured jabs and counters. The fight heats up beginning in the third as Nimyomtrong started to mix it up. The middle rounds saw Loreto slowing down as Niyomtrong targeted Loreto's body. Loreto hit the canvas in the 10th round courtesy of a Niyomtrong right cross to the jaw. Loreto gave it all in the last two rounds but Niyomtrong fought smart locking down Loreto in the head and body whenever they were close drawing several warnings from Referee Rafael Ramos of Puerto Rico.

Niyomtrong captured the WBA Interim world minimumweight world title in July, 2014 against Filipino Cris Alfante and the WBA world minimumweight title on Feb. 4, 2016 against Carlos Buitrago of Nicaragua and has now defended it four times since.

Loreto won the IBO world junior flyweight belt on March 22, 2015 by knocking out Nkosinathi Joyi in the 1st round in South Africa.
