Niyomtrong poses with WBC president Mauricion Sulaiman as the Thai reclaims WBC minimumweight title.

BANGKOK, Thailand — Thailand’s Thammanoon Niyomtrong (“Knockout CPF,” 29-1, 11 KOs) outboxed and outclassed game and strong Argentinian Junior “Demonio” Zárate (26-6, 9 KOs) for a 5-judge unanimous decision win to claim the WBC Light Flyweight World title Thursday night, December 4, at The Marriott Marquis Queen's Park in Bangkok, Thailand.

Thailand's Niyomtrong (L) puts on the pressure against Junior Zarate of Argentina.

After being a long-time world champion in the minimumweight division, the victory makes the 35-year-old veteran warrior from Surin, Thailand, a champion of the world again.

His next title fight must be against Venezuelan “Champion in Recess“ Carlos Cañizales (28-3-1, 20 KOs). Congratulations “Knockout CPF!!!” 🇹🇭👍🥊
