Joey Canoy in Dubai.

THREE professional boxers from the Sanman Boxing team of General Santos City will see action in the IBA Men’s World Boxing Championships slated December 2 to 13 at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium in Dubai.

Minimumweight Joel “The Babyface” Canoy [24-5-2, 15KOs], bantamweight Jayson “The Smasher” Mama [21-3-1, 10KOs] and lightweight Jerald “Truman” Into [13-1-0, 10KOs] are already in Dubai.

It is the IBA ‘Festival of Boxing’ – a show-stopping two-week event as part of the IBA’s ‘Golden Era’ for the sport.

The festival celebrates the sport on a global stage with a record-breaking $8.32m prize-pool.

The 32-year-old Canoy recently stopped Minh Phat Sam in the 10th round to win the WBC International minimumweight title last April 27 in General Santos City.

Mama, 28, on the other hand, beat Sarangani’s Ramel Antaran by a unanimous decision last November 9 at the Villa Kristina Resort and Hotel in Gensan.

Mama earlier lost by a technical knockout to reigning IBO World super flyweight champion Ricardo Malajika in the 5th round last August 9 in their title-fight at the Emperors Palace in Kempton Park.

The 25-year-old Into scored a technical knockout against Alvin Lagumbay of Bukidnon in the 1st round last August 31 at Phela Grande Convention in Gensan.

Into is also scheduled to fight undefeated Yonggiang Yang of China for the vacant WBO Global lightweight title on February 1, 2026 at Jiagen Sport Gym in Xiamen.

Into earlier lost to Sanatali Toltayev of Kazakhstan by a unanimous decision last June 20 in the WBC Grand Prix Round of 16 in Cool Arena in Riyadh.
