Bantamweight Herlan Gomez (C) and his coach Jayvee Jacinto Alipio (L) depart for Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia, looking confident, focused and strong.
The 26-year-old Herlan will fight Aussie veteran Jason Moloney (27-4, 19 KOs) in a non-title 8-round battle this Saturday, December 6, at the Gold Coast Convention Center in Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia, live on DAZN.
Moloney, 34, who is coming from back to back loses, wants so badly to score a win at the expense of the Pinoy fighter. Could he do that?
Or will it be the well-trained Visayas boxer from beautiful Victorias, Negros Occidental, the one to command the battle, providing Moloney his third consecutive defeat?
Before heading to the airport, Herlan’s teammate and fellow Negros Occidental kabayan Reymart Soledad (on the right) wished the best of luck to Herlan and coach Jayvee outside their gym, the Highland Boxing Gym in Bangkok, Thailand.
Herlan’s promoter, Brico Santig, will join them in Broadbeach, Australia, tomorrow.
The Herlan Gomez vs Jason Moloney rumble is one of the supporting bouts for the IBF world title main event, featuring Australian Jai Opetaia (28-0, 22 KOs) defending against hard-hitting German veteran Huseyin Cinkara (23-0, 19 KOs)
Best of luck to the Filipino team!
