PACQUIAO IS NOT TAKING HORN LIGHTLY

Eight-division and eleven-time world boxing champion turned senator Manny Pacquiao is not taking his Australian challenger Jeff Horn lightly. This was the pronouncement of his Canadian adviser Michael Koncz when he told Philboxing.com: ?Manny Pacquiao climbs up the ring well-prepared as what you can see in his previous fights.? This comes about even if the fighting lawmaker is the overwhelming favorite to prevail over the less experienced Aussie opponent this coming July 2 at Brisbane, Australia.

The Australian website The Courier Mail wrote that Pacquiao has not started serious training and that ?Horn?s chances of springing a massive upset grow stronger every day the world welterweight champ takes it easy.? It expressed the senator?s giving priority to his senate duties more than his practices. The press and media did everything to market Horn as a worthy opponent for the former pound-for-pound king.

The same Courier Mail featured an article about Pacquiao stating that he has already fought three Australians namely, Todd Makelim, Arnel Barotillo and Nedal ?Skinny?? Hussein, with all of them stopped by the young Pacquiao. But it was the fight with Hussein in October 14, 2000 held at Antipolo City that showed Pacquiao is not invincible as he was knocked down by Hussein in the fourth round. The fight was stopped though by referee Carlos Padilla in round 10 due to a cut in the right eyebrow of the Aussie with Pacquiao leading in all three scorecards.

The Cinco de Mayo 12-round encounter between Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KO?s) and Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KO?s) is a highly-anticipated brawl between two popular Mexican warriors which is expected to hit more than 500,000 to almost 1 million pay-per-view buys which Floyd Mayweather, Jr, and Manny Pacquiao failed to sell after their much-ballyhooed superfight turning into a lacklustre tussle. Canelo is now the new PPV king with his fight against Miguel Cotto earning 900,000 PPV?s and his bout with Amir Khan harvesting around 600,000 PPV?s. Mayweather vs. Andre Berto came out with only 400,000 PPV?s while Pacquiao had 300,000 PPV?s with Jessie Vargas and got more than 400,000 PPV?s in the third title fight with Timothy Bradley.

After leading the Cleveland Cavaliers 3-0 against the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference semi-finals LeBron James was quoted by cleveland.com: "What else do I have to prove? I've won championships, I won my first one and I've won for my teammates, I came home and won. There isn't anything I have left to prove." In the second game against the Raptors, James grabbed his 92nd career playoff double-double tying Charles Barkley at 12th place for most in NBA post-season history. In that game, James also passed Kobe Bryant in second place with 89 games with 30 plus points in playoff history. He is now chasing Michael Jordan with 109 games scoring 30+ in the postseason.
