Mayweather Not Really Retired

On September 12, 2015 Floyd Mayweather reiterated to the boxing world he retired from the sport boxing. On that night he defeated the capable Andre Berto and matched the late Rocky Marciano?s record of 49-0. An accomplishment only a few boxers have matched since late Marciano?s passing. His boxing resume will show he has defeated multiple world champions and has captured world titles in 6 weight classes in the past 19 years. Before the Berto fight he defeated Manny Pacquiao in what turned out to be the richest prizefight in all of boxing history. After the Pacquiao fight, Mayweather said that he was giving up his world title belts so other fighters could have an opportunity to become world champions. Mayweather held the WBC and WBA welterweight titles. He also held the WBA and WBC junior middleweight titles. Usually when a fighter hold titles in multiple weight divisions he is given 30 days to decide which title he will keep and which to relinquish. For Mayweather that rule apparently did not apply. Sanctioning fees are a nice tax credit for a fighter who makes a minimum $35,000,000 a fight. It took six months for him to vacate his WBC titles. A tournament will be set up for fighters to be crowned champion. However Mayweather will be given the title of Champion Emeritus which means he can go straight to a Championship fight whenever he decides. Why leave the door open if Mayweather is really retired?
He defeated Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez and neither complained they were injured as excuses for losing to him. Both fights did well in PPV sales with the Alvarez fight being the second in PPV sales in history behind the Dela Hoya-Mayweather PPV sales. Mayweather-Pacquiao is the all-time record breaker in PPV sales. Pacquiao revealed immediately after the fight he fought Mayweather with a shoulder injury and was not 100% for that fight. Mayweather had initially said he would give Pacquiao a rematch then later changed his mind because of Pacquiao citing an injury as to why he lost to Mayweather. Is Mayweather going to come out of retirement? According to this writer?s sources Mayweather still trains and covets another big payday. He wants to reach 50-0 and then retire. If Mayweather is retired, why hasn?t he officially vacated the WBA titles? Why are other fighters still calling out Mayweather? All signs point to Mayweather not being retired at all. He still on social media showing off his expensive cars, vacation spots, etc. This what he did for attention as an active fighter? The boxing world knows Mayweather?s mood changes like the weather. The same way he said he was giving up his title belts for other fighters and he did not. The same way he said he was not going to fight Pacquiao if Promoter Bob Arum was involved with the promotion, which he was, and Mayweather still signed for the fight. The same way for five years he said he was not going to fight Manny Pacquiao and he eventually did is the same way he will announce that he is returning to boxing for the ?Dead Presidents? (money). Who does it make financial sense for Mayweather to fight?
That fighter is no other than Manny Pacquiao. If Pacquiao is 100% can he defeat Mayweather? That remains to be seen. It also makes financial sense for Mayweather to negotiate with Bob Arum. Last time he did received over $100,000,000 for fighting Pacquiao. Reports in the Media about Pacquiao fighting Amir Kahn is financially silly. The only fight out there for Mayweather that can guarantee him another $100,000,000 is to fight Pacquiao. Mayweather is not really retired. The announcement will come sometime in January 2016. Look for him to fight Manny Pacquiao in April 2016.
