THE ?Blow by Blow? TV boxing program makes its much-awaited comeback on Oct. 15 featuring former WBO Asia Pacific Youth super flyweight champion Mark Anthony ?El Heneral? Geraldo against ex-IBF Pan Pacific flyweight champion Ryan Rey ?Mr Pogi? Ponteras in one of the triple main events at the Lagao Gym in General Santos City.

Geraldo, 24, has an impressive record of 31 wins, 6 loss and 3 draws. He fought but lost in the eliminator for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) super flyweight title against now title-holder McJoe Arroyo by a unanimous decision last Dec. 20, 2014 in Puerto Rico.

Geraldo, a southpaw, captured the WBO Asia Pacific Youth super flyweight title by dethroning previous undefeated Jerwin ?Pretty Boy? Ancajas by a majority decision last March 17, 2012 in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

It is the only defeat of Ancajas, who is now already ranked IBF no. 3 and scheduled to challenge Arroyo for the world title in November.

Geraldo successfully made his title-defense with a 2nd round technical knockout against Inthanon Sithchamuang on Oct. 26, 2013 at the Makati Coliseum.

After losing to Arroyo, Geraldo went to Tokyo, Japan on July 6, 2015 to fight for the vacant Orient Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) super flyweight crown.

Geraldo, however, lost again by a unanimous decision to Japanese Takuma Inoue.

His previous victory was a unanimous decision over Efrain Perez last July 19, 2014 at the Cotai Arena, Venetian Resort in Macao, China.

Geraldo knocked down Perez in the 3rd round but was deducted for holding in the 5th round.

Ponteras (13-11-1), on the other hand, dropped a split decision in his comeback fight last Sept 6 in Labangal Gym in Labangal, General Santos City.

Ponteras, however, still made an impressive performance in his comeback as he fought toe-to-toe until the end of the 10th round. Ponteras has never been knockout and was only beaten by decisions.

?Kahit minsan hindi pa rin siya na-knockout kahit may 11 na siyang talo. Matibay din kasi,? said TV producer and commentator Manny Pinol, who is also Ponteras? former boxing manager.
Ponteras, a native of Panabo City, won the IBF Pan Pacific flyweight title by scoring a 4th round technical knockout against Rusalee Samor of Thailand last Dec 12, 2012 in Bangkok.
He then went to Okinawa, Japan to fight Japanese Go Omega by was disqualified in a non-title fight on June 2, 2013. Ponteras, however, bounced back with a unanimous decision over Nelson Llanos in M?lang, North Cotabato on August 4, 2013.

But after that, Ponteras went on a hiatus in boxing for more a year before he decided to make a ring comeback last Sept. 6 against the undefeated Gomera

?Magandang laban itong Ponteras and Geraldo dahil pareho silang ayaw magpapatalo talaga ng suntok,? said Pinol.

The complete card will be announced next week. The main purpose of reviving the TV show is to discover and develop the next Manny Pacquiao.

?We will start exactly on where Manny Pacquiao had also started his career,? said Pinol.

Pacquiao, an 8-time world division champion, bought the franchise of the TV show and will also be the host starting next month on ABC TV 5 every Sunday at 2 p.m. before the PBA game.
The TV show is noted for airing the early bouts of Pacquiao, who quickly became one of its featured boxers. ? LITO DELOS REYES
