Hard-hitting southpaw Eden Sonsona?s sensational 2nd round TKO victory over previously undefeated Mexican Adrian ?Diamante? Estrella has once again sparked interest in the fighter who at one time looked like a world title prospect following two appearances on the undercard of fights featuring eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao.

Viva Sports presents a special on Sonsona this Saturday at 8:30 p.m. with a replay at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday on the top-rated weekly boxing show ?The Main Event? on Pinoy Box Office (PBO) over Sky Cable and Cignal TV.

In his US debut on the Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto showdown at the MGM Grand on November 14, 2009, Sonsona smashed Eilon Kedem in two rounds forcing referee Joe Cortez to call a halt while in his second appearance on the Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey clash at the Dallas Cowboys stadium, Sonsona knocked out former world champion Mauricio Pastrana in the final round of a scheduled eight round bout ob March 13, 2010.

In-between the two US fights, Sonsona returned to Manila and scored a stunning 1st round knockout of Mauricio Laurente to win the Philippine bantamweight title.

The talented 26 year old who moved up to fight Estrella, a legitimate super featherweight who was clearly the bigger fighter, had earlier seen his promising career run into trouble after a reported conflict with his father/trainer, and when he entered a wayward spell his manager at that time, Rod Nazario who was also the business manager of Pacquiao, parted ways with him.

After almost a year, Sonsona returned to the ring and resumed his winning ways.

In his last fight Sonsona scored a 1st round TKO over veteran Rex Olisa following a 3rd round technical draw against former two-time world title challenger Bernabe Concepcion which had to be stopped in the 3rd round following an accidental clash of heads just when he appeared to be getting the better of the exchanges.

Sonsona?s win over Estrella was his seventh aside from two no decisions following a 9th round knockout at the hands of a much bigger Jonathan Oquendo whom he earlier had on the verge of a knockout before Sonsona faded in an exciting battle in Puerto Rico on July 10, 2010.

The win by the unranked Sonsona over the heavily favored Estrella who was ranked No. 5 by the World Boxing Council and No. 7 by the International Boxing Federation was significant since the 22 year old Estrella was coming off impressive wins over rugged countryman Dante Jardon 24-4 with 20 knockouts and former world champion Celestino Caballero whom he dropped twice in the 5th round and once each in rounds 10 and 11.

Fight fans will get a chance to see highlights of both fights in addition to the fights of Sonsona vs Kedem, Laurente and Concepcion.
