The World Boxing Council reports that Britain?s Amir Khan is ?hot on the trail? of WBC welterweight and super welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The WBC described the former world champion and Olympic silver medalist Khan as ?fast on his feet, quick witted and with blazing combinations in his gloved hands.?

The WBC welterweight Silver champion, according to the WBC website, ?argues he possesses boxing skills, speed and the challenging style to entice great pay-per-view numbers.?
Khan was quoted as saying ?Floyd needs someone who gives him PPV The people like my style. I have lots of fans in Great Britain.?

Khan added, ?If I face Floyd I promise you that it would be a great fight. My speed and style could pose some real problems for Mayweather. I hope this fight happens.?

The WBC noted that among the probable opponents lined-up to face Mayweather are Miguel Cotto who fought Mayweather before and lost a unanimous twelve round decision in a good fight, Keith Thurman and Khan.

Significantly, the WBC which had earlier pushed for a Manny Pacquiao-Mayweather showdown didn?t mention Pacquiao who faces undefeated WBO light welterweight champion Chris Algieri in Macau on November 22, this time around.
