Indonesia?s Jemmy Gobel failed to make the weight in his World Boxing Federation Asia Pacific flyweight title fight against the Philippines Jether ?The General? Oliva and lost his chance to win the title on the scales even if he beats Oliva.

However, the records of both fighters clearly indicate that the talented 27 year old Oliva who has a solid record 21-2-2 with 10 knockouts is a prohibitive favorite to win against the Indonesian fighter who is 32 and has a record of 18-24-5 with 13 knockouts and is coming off three successive losses, one by knockout and the other by TKO.

Oliva who weighed 111 pounds compared to Gobel?s 113 which was one pound over the flyweight limit is coming off a ten round majority decision win over Wilber Andogan last May 24 after losing by a split decision in a controversial decision over former world IBF flyweight champion Moruti Mthalaene of South Africa in a clash for the vacant IBO International flyweight title last March 15 in South Africa.
Gobel on the other hand lost by a 2nd round knockout to Petchbangborn Kokietgym in a clash for the Pan Asia Boxing Association Interim super flyweight title on December 27, 2013 before suffering a 6th round TKO at the hands of another Thai fighter, Eaktawan Nor Krungthepthonburi last June 13.
The fight card is being staged in Glan, Sarangani province later today according to Jim Manangquil, the manager of Oliva.
