World-ranked Filipino Jether "The General" Oliva scaled-in at 111 lbs while his experienced opponent Jemmy "Boom Boom" Gobel of Indonesia made 113 lbs ahead of their battle for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Asia Pacific 112 lbs title @ Glan Municipal Gym in Sarangani, Philippines.

The belt will be winnable only for "The General" as the Indonesian came one pound over the limit of the Flyweight class.

The fight - which the 27-year-old General Santos City fighter can not afford to lose - is part of the celebrations of the centennial founding anniversary of the boxing-loving Municipality of Glan in Sarangani, the coastal town where the Pride of the Philippines, Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, spent his childhood years.

If Oliva wins, his manager Jim Claude Manangquil of JM Promotions would press for a rematch with IBO world champion Moruti Mthalane or a fight against any of the WBA titlist as Oliva is currently WBA # 11 Jr. Flyweight.

For the important clash, Oliva has been training with head coach Renie Gabawa at Sanman Gym in Gensan together with stablemates Randy Petalcorin and Hermonito Dela Torre.

MORE FIGHTS

In a clash of new non-stop action fighters that will delight fans, former amateur standout Mark Angelo Plana (the latest addition to the Sanman Boxing Stable) made 117 pounds for his second pro fight against late sub Clavilaz Omayao, 118 lbs, in a 4-rounder in the bantamweight division. This is also the second pro-fight for the young Omayao. In his first try he lost a majority decision in Davao and this time he wants to make it right. He knows that he can do it, even though he'll have a dangerous experienced enemy.

Because Plana is a former Philippines Amateur National Team Member who represented the country during the competitions of the Amateur International Boxing Association (AIBA) Junior World Boxing Championships in September of last year in Kiev, Ukraine. Tough guy Plana, but Clavilaz Omayao is not afraid.

In addition, Kenny Demecillo (7-2-1, 4 KO's) of Iligan, Lanao del Norte and his nemesis Butuan journeyman "The Destroyer" Nikong Calamba got 118 pounds at the scale for their flying fist encounter.

The 22-year-old Demecillo comes from knocking out Rogen Flores few weeks ago at Tabunok Sports Complex in Cebu, while the lefty Calamba lost to "The Davao Eagle" Engelbert Moralde in Maco, Compostela Valley, and Nikong wants Demecillo to pay for that tough lost.

In another thrilling rumble, unbeaten hard-swinging knockout artist Christian Araneta (5-0, 4 KO's) tipped the scales @ 108 lbs while opponent big-heart Bonjun Loperez (8-1, 4 KO's) marked 106 lbs for their 8-rounder in the Jr. Flyweight class.

Also, flyweights Michael "Blade" Enriquez of Cagayan de Oro and southpaw Rez Padrogane weigthed-in at identical 110 lbs for their thrilling war of survival. Both boxers - who tasted sour defeats in June - need to get back to the winning column.

In one of the first clashes of the evening, debutant Jose Aballe made 113 lbs., as Michael Javier (1-0, 1 KO's) scaled-in 112 for their flyweight class 4-round war.

In a preliminary bout, tough Orlie Silvestre, 20, of Sultan Kudarat tipped the scale @ 108 lbs for his skirmish with newcomer Ryan Bahala who came three pounds lighter at 105 pounds.

Fights will take center stage at Glan Gymnasium in the Municipality of Glan in Sarangani Province.

The exciting show - which is part of the celebrations of Glan's 100 years anniversary - is produced thanks to the kind support of Sarangani Congressman and world champion Manny Pacquiao in cooperation with Buboy Fernandez Promotions, Sanman Promotions, Errol Elicanal and Lonsdale.

Come over with family and friends for an thrilling evening of boxing!
